Spring game just another practice

While a good chunk of the student body sees Little 500 week as an excuse to party every night, the IU football team spent the week preparing for the Cream and Crimson game, which begins at 7 p.m. tonight.

Seniors say farewell again

The Hoosier faithful were granted one last chance to see Tom Coverdale's fiery hair and ball-handling expertise, one last chance to see Kyle Hornsby's throwback crew cut and spot-shooting prowess, and one last chance to see Jeff Newton's 6-feet-9-inch frame, dunking and all-around skills here in Bloomington. The seniors from the Hoosier basketball team are currently taking part in a 15 game Barnstorming Tour that will have them playing exhibition games all over the state.

IUSA adds late night transportation for students

As the first official action of their term, the new IU Student Association administration will be providing students with rides Friday evening from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. The initiative was proposed as a way to promote safety and curb student arrests linked with alcohol consumption during Little 500 weekend while promoting the issue of night busing, one of the new IUSA administration's principal concerns.

With less than 36 hours until the 2003 men's Little 500, riders are starting to feel the pressure of competition. Come Saturday, they will be hoping months, and, in many cases, years, of training will pay off with the championship title.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. forces in Iraq have taken custody of Tariq Aziz, the former deputy prime minister and the most visible Iraqi leader other than Saddam Hussein. Officials at the Pentagon and at Central Command headquarters in Qatar said Thursday they did not know whether Aziz was captured or whether he turned himself in.

Indiana fared better than the nation in personal income growth last year, but nevertheless dropped one spot in the national rankings for personal income.

Step show features local and state teams

Saturday night, 12 of the best collegiate step teams from IU and other colleges across the state will present their 2003 step routines. These teams will be competing at 6 p.m. Saturday in the inaugural Little 5 Stepdown Competition for the title of "Best Step Team in Indiana." "This is a chance for the teams to display their creativity," said junior Jeremy Morris, a Union Board member. Rickey Smiley will be the host for the event. Smiley is a former host of BET's popular comedy showcase "Comic View."

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The head of the FBI in Indiana publicly apologized for the detention of eight Egyptian men from Evansville, who were held as part of a terrorism investigation just weeks after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Trustees discuss tuition increases

Just when IU students thought tuition couldn't get any higher, the IU board of trustees will meet in early May to determine if tuition will increase again. The board approved a 7.5 percent increase for the 2001-2002 school year.
