By the time I came to IU, I had been told many times that college would be “the best four years of my life.” After that kind of buildup, I was naturally disappointed to find out college is actually a time full of both highs and lows, just like anything else.

In the infamous Stanford prisoner experiment, psychologist Philip Zimbardo took a group of largely white, educated, well-to-do and politically liberal men and put them into a prison role-playing scenario with half acting as prisoners and the other half acting as guards.

My reason for sharing the story is to relate to all you seniors out there. My experience at “Lord of the Rings” is more or less what your experience at commencement is going to be: about eight hours of sitting in Assembly Hall listening to aging hobbits give advice, and you don’t even get to throw your cap in the air afterward. It’s not going to be fun.

Indiana voter ID law upheld

In a splintered 6-3 ruling, the United States Supreme Court upheld Indiana's strict photo ID requirement, which Democrats and civil rights groups said would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots. Its backers said it was needed to prevent fraud.
