If you are looking for a day out but don’t want to venture too far, look no further than the Hoosier National Forest. Just on the outskirts of Bloomington lies this 200,000 acre forest, where visitors can go camping, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing and hunting.

IU prepares for Euro trip

The IU volleyball team has been practicing all spring to this point — nearly six months removed from its last competitive match, save for a couple of small spring tournaments.However, the Hoosiers get their payoff Wednesday as they embark on an 11-day  European tour for sightseeing and a series of matches against some of the continent’s top youth competition.

5 Hoosiers win Big Ten individual titles

The women did not improve their team finish from 2009, finishing in fourth place again, but the men’s team moved up one spot to fifth. Minnesota won the men’s overall team championship, while Penn State won the women’s overall. But the Hoosiers, still a fairly youthful team, are not disappointed by their finish.

Keeping things fresh and local at the market

Showers Plaza fills with a bustling crowd of patrons making their way through a multitude of tent-covered stands selling meat, dairy and locally grown produce. Live bluegrass music serenades the shoppers as they stroll. The market-goers delight in grass-fed beef, leafy greens and fresh herbs. The Bloomington Farmers’ Market is an oasis of local, organic and handcrafted goods — any food lover’s paradise.

All Day I Dream About Signees: adidas May Classic tourney invades IU

While Gary Harris, Jeremy Hollowell and Aaron Thomas all have received scholarship offers from the Hoosiers, this weekend marked the first time many of the Hoosier faithful caught a glimpse of the potential signees. The three players have become a hot commodity for several Big Ten and other Midwestern schools during this summer’s AAU circuit.

Hot summer spots in B-town

IU School of Medicine gets $8.5 million grant to update Riley Hospital for Children

The IU School of Medicine has received a federal grant from the National Institutes of Health for nearly $8.5 million. This will allow a floor of the Riley Hospital for Children, the hospital that benefits from IU Dance Marathon, to become a state-of-the-art facility for pediatric clinical research.

Mobility study selects final action

‘Blogging to show IU’s true colors’

“Painting the Bridge: Blogging to show IU’s true colors” was added to the website in December and features blog posts by eight students and several staff members, which are posted under categories such as “academics,” “arts,” “athletics,” “exams” and “travel.” The blog’s theme and title is based on the Jordan Avenue bridges that are painted by IU students to promote events and community involvement.
