Award-winning ‘Shrek the Musical’ debuts this week at IU Auditorium

For three nights this week, the kingdom of Far, Far Away will come to Bloomington. “Shrek the Musical” will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the IU Auditorium.

For the 43rd and final show of her solo tour, Wisconsin singer Anna Vogelzang performed Saturday at The Bishop. She belted her lyrics to an attentive audience despite her fatigue from the night before — she had played in Indianapolis with belly dancers and fire-eaters, she informed her listeners.

Week to focus on world cultures

This week is International Education Week at IU and in more than 100 countries worldwide, an event that was first observed in 2000 and was a joint initiative of the U.S. departments of State and Education, according to the event’s website.

Volunteers plant new trees

After tree loss due to a May storm, IU students, faculty, staff and community members participated in a Tree Campus USA tree planting. The IU-Bloomington Tree Campus USA steering committee organized the event, which took place Friday and began in Dunn Meadow.
