U.S. ambassador recognizes Iraqi election intimidation

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- The U.S. ambassador to Iraq acknowledged serious problems ahead of next weekend's election but assured on Sunday that "great efforts" were being made so every Iraqi can vote. In an audiotape posted on the Web, a speaker claiming to be Iraq's most-feared terrorist declared "fierce war" on democracy, raising the stakes in the vote.

The IU Student Association Congress approved a plan this month to increase the mandatory transportation fee to $49.50. which will allow students to ride both the campus and Bloomington buses by showing their IDs.

Bomb hoax clears Union

A bomb threat was reported at Alumni Hall in the Indiana Memorial Union at approximately 9:37 p.m. Thursday night, according to police dispatchers. About 20 minutes later, police reported the threat was made from a pay phone at a convenience store on South Walnut Street by a young male.
