Like a bad wine, no amount of aging can soften the stink of a bad movie. Though “Penelope” sat on the shelves for about two years after its production, it is now painfully clear that the people in charge were merely delaying the inevitable flop of this fractured fairy tale.

IU might consider pairing with schools to teach inmates on-site

Saying goodbye

There were a lot of lasts at Assembly Hall on Senior Night – the last basket, the last shot, the last rebound, among others. But it was one senior’s first that had everybody talking. Forward D.J. White’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer at the end of the first half, his first 3-pointer in his collegiate career, was the highlight in the Hoosiers’ 69-55 win over Minnesota in the final game of the season at Assembly Hall.  VIDEO:  IU Senior Night

Restaurant hosts ‘fun and lively’ art opening

The exhibition, the largest Larsen has shown in the Midwest, will be on display at Trulli until March 25. Friends, fellow artists and musicians came to see Larsen’s collection. Deputy Mayor Maria Heslin said events like this one encourage local art.

Starting at 8 p.m. today, the floorboards of the Buskirk-Chumley Theater will vibrate from the sounds of “new grass” as the Grammy-nominated Punch Brothers take the stage.

Fusion Culture: Transportable Living and the Landscape When: Noon to 4 p.m. today and Friday Where: School of Fine Arts Gallery More Info: Works by artist Sarah FitzSimons, who has created works about the environment for the past seven years will be on display.


The Bloomington Area Arts Council, in partnership with the city of Bloomington, is presenting the “Stop and Start” public art project. The project is currently looking for area artists to decorate six traffic control boxes on  College and Walnut avenues. Each box is located in a different Bloomington Entertainment & Arts District, with each district focusing on either dining, art or theater.

It was all hugs and air kisses at the end of the night, waves to the crowd and standing ovations. There were chants of “M-V-P” from the crowd as senior forward D.J. White said his goodbyes while “One more year” was directed at freshman guard Eric Gordon – “the other half of the best duo in college basketball,” in White’s words.

While most IU students will still be in Bloomington today waiting for spring break to start, the Hoosiers (1-8) are already in Florida. The Hoosiers are one of 14 teams competing in the Under Armour Invitational hosted by the University of South Florida this weekend.

“Wanna guess how many condoms I have?” Planned Parenthood peer educator and master’s student Emily Forsyth asked passers-by this question Tuesday while holding a 5-gallon clear plastic jug filled to the brim with assorted condoms. The prize for guessing the number of condoms was three dozen condoms.

RPS prepares spring break living for 36 students who are staying

Spring break is a few days away, and students around campus are preparing for the much-needed recess from school work. For students living in dorms, however, the vacation means having to make arrangements for special living quarters if they do not plan to leave Bloomington.
