Students line up to get pizza Thursday afternoon in Dunn Meadow. Proceeds from Pizza Mania benefitted Mother Hubbard's Cupboard, a local food pantry whose mission is to provide healthful, wholesome foods to people in need, as well as nutrition and gardening education.

Eleven local pizzerias participated in the event to benefit Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard. The restaurants competed in the categories of best cheese, specialty, pepperoni, breadsticks and best overall. Several times throughout the event, the restaurants ran out of slices.

Team prepares for Michigan State series

IU (5-28, 1-7) will head to East Lansing, Mich., this weekend to face Michigan State (13-18, 0-5). But the stage for this game will be a little different from the usual.

Lin Loring is a ladies’ man. With 731 career victories, he is the NCAA’s winningest women’s tennis coach in Division I history. A 326-71 record also makes him the most successful coach in the Big Ten for women’s tennis.

Representatives from several organizations gathered Wednesday with students to discuss employment opportunities and diversity in the workplace at “Diversify Your Options,” an event put on by the IU Career Development Center.

The mood was light and the smiles were genuine as members of IU’s Virtu Project shook hands with associates of the Timmy Foundation on Thursday in the Maple Room of the Indiana Memorial Union.

3 organizations collaborate for cultural night

When senior Zuhaili Izzuddin came to IU in fall 2007, the Malaysian Student Association had almost disappeared from campus. Now Izzuddin is treasurer of the group and said she is working to rebuild the Association and remind people the group still exists.

3-on-3 basketball tourney thanks IU soldiers

Students can take shots to raise money for charity Saturday – basketball shots, that is. The Business Careers in Entertainment Club is partnering with the IU Student Veterans Association to host the “King of the Court 3-on-3 Easter Classic” from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Ora L. Wildermuth Fieldhouse courts in the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation.

Campus MovieFest showcases 16 films

The Buskirk Chumley Theater erupted in laughter as an Obama impersonator sat onscreen questioning why the “cheap” audience was at the Campus MovieFest instead of at a real movie theater, stimulating the economy. The Campus MovieFest and IU Union Board premiered 16 student-made movies Thursday at the Buskirk. Although the festival premiered 16 movies, many more were entered into the competition.

U.S. Rep. Peter Visclosky says he will not request any congressional budget earmarks for private, for-profit firms this year because of the ongoing federal investigation into a lobbying firm that had been his top campaign contributor.
