INDIANAPOLIS – An undercover narcotics detective has shot and killed a drug suspect in a northwest Indianapolis Wal-Mart parking lot.
Police say the detective was investigating three suspects when one of them appeared to make a threatening move.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Sgt. Paul Thompson said the officer felt threatened and defended himself. The wounded suspect died later at a local hospital. No one else was hurt. Police say all three suspects were armed with handguns, but no shots were fired at the undercover officer.
Further details of the shooting and identification of the officer and the suspects have not been released.
The shooting appeared to take place about 100 yards from the store’s entrance, and police were questioning motorists as possible witnesses.
