On move-in day, thousands of IU students descend upon Bloomington for the school year, and local businesses said they couldn’t be happier.

As another frenzied year in Bloomington picks up, students are trickling in, trying to familiarize themselves with and remember important Bloomington hot spots. One of the more important locations in Bloomington is Fourth Street.

BEAD brings art, culture downtown

It is that time of year for students to either move in for the first time or return to the Bloomington scene. However, while freshmen and transfer students will probably turn a blind eye to a new feature, returning Bloomington residents might notice a new addition to downtown and Kirkwood — banners sporting “Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District,” or BEAD.

Shoppers wait in line to make their purchases Tuesday at TIS College Bookstore. In order to streamline the checkout process and reduce confusion TIS has placed signs telling shoppers where the checkout is located, as well as yellow arrows on the floor informing customers of the direction from which the line should form.
