Transfer law students find academic success, lack maximum integration

Transferring schools and the rapid change, unfamiliarity and stress that come with it can make for a difficult process. A recent study by the Law School Survey of Student Engagement shows that J.D. students who transfer midway through their legal education thrive academically but struggle to acclimate at their new law schools.

Outdoor adventure participants embrace outdoors

For Tyler Kivland, an instructor and full trip leader for Outdoor Adventures, the Canoe Canada Expedition has encompassed the purpose of the group as an outdoor recreation program that offers classes and adventure trips. The organization, which is based out of Eigenmann Hall, offers adventure trips year-round, including five trips during spring break to destinations across the country. The final day to sign up for spring break trips is Feb. 3.

Hoosiers fight Irish, crack vs. Buckeyes

After a weekend of mixed results in the ITA Men’s Kickoff at Columbus, Ohio, the Hoosiers have begun to establish a reputation as a feisty opponent.   In Saturday’s match, No. 29 Indiana outclassed No. 28 Notre Dame 6-1, sweeping doubles and losing one singles contest. Sunday, though, the Hoosiers (3-2) fell 4-0 to host No. 3 Ohio State.

It was another tough test for the Hoosiers on Sunday when they took to the mat against the No. 8 Fighting Illini in IU’s University Gymnasium. Despite its efforts, the team suffered a loss, 10-29.

Art, chocolate combine at Week of Chocolate event

Each February, Bloomington is host to a week of events dedicated to chocolate and used to benefit local non-profit organizations.The 8th annual Week of Chocolate kicked off Sunday night with the Art of Chocolate, featuring sample savories, cocktails and local art at the IU Art Museum. Community members collected sweets at the elegant fair as live music from the Mahluli McCutcheon Jazz Quartet filled the museum’s atrium.

Benefit dinner focuses on mechanical puzzles, play

About 70 art enthusiasts gathered together for the 26th Annual Friends of Art Benefit Dinner Saturday evening. Bret Rothstein filled his hour-long lecture with his passion for puzzles, the type meant to frustrate, confuse and even needlessly challenge the viewer.

The Indiana General Assembly unanimously passed Senate Bill 4, a bill that would strengthen Indiana’s laws against human trafficking.

HIV testing sites for couples prove difficult to find

Places where gay couples can feel comfortable hearing the results of a test for HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases with a significant other are hard to come by. That’s why Testing Together, a program designed for gay male couples to take HIV tests together, was created.
