'Big Red Reg' registers new voters

"Big Red Reg 2000," a comprehensive campus-wide voter registration program, is looking for new registrants and volunteers alike. The program, in its third year, was instituted by the Indiana Public Interest Research Group.

Faculty Council makes statements on Knight firing, civility

At its first meeting of the semester Tuesday, Bloomington Faculty Council passed resolutions making a statement about the Sept. 11 firing of former head basketball coach Bob Knight and reasserting the importance of civility among members of the University community.

Injuries plague women's soccer team

As the women's soccer season began, coach Joe Kelley was pleased with his team's depth. For Kelley, it was one of the team's three largest assets going into this season. Three weeks later, Kelley might be biting his tongue. The team, once filled with potential starters, is now frail and thin after a host of injuries has depleted the team's midfield and front. In all, four potential starters have been put on the bench for part or all of the season, and another is playing through an ailment.

E-commerce still too young for sales tax

Legislators in Indiana have been considering imposing a state sales tax on items purchased via the Internet, arguing the state could lose money from uncollected sales taxes on these items, the Associated Press reported Sept. 7.
