Asian Superstars

·

Sitting around a table at Bears' Place, sipping on a Newcastle and joking away the time, the five men who are OlO show off the new shirts they will use for the recording of their first music video, the song "Red Man Go On." The shirts are blank except for the numbers 010 on the back. The shirts are all various colors, and the band members fight over which color each will wear for the video, which will be filmed in Brown County and Chicago. The video will air in Japan to support the album OlOrizedcoloralbum.

DJ keeps bodies moving

·

Thumping music, flashing lights and clouds of smoke fill the dance floor as clubgoers dance the night away. Junior Scott Jacobson stands tall behind his DJ tables as his brown eyes gleam. Sweat pours down his face and seeps into his hair while his boots tap the rhythm against the floor. This is an average weekend night for "DJ Scotty J."

Triple H spoils Austin's hopes

·

Welcome back to another great semester. Classes have started, books haven't been bought and Monday Night Raw starts an hour later -- because of time zones -- than the time I became accustomed to during break. Unfortunately, those in the dorms who had the luxury of watching Raw at home during break now need to find another place to get their Monday dose of wrestling.

Olympic diver comes home

·

After competing in the Sydney Summer Olympics in September, junior diver Sara Reiling said she is glad to be back home. "I want to find all my friends," she said. "I missed them." Although Reiling has been redshirted this season because of an injury and her late return to the program, she is still training for the future. Reiling said she hopes to be ready to compete in the Senior Nationals in April. Summer competition looms as a last resort. "I'm just trying to keep an open mind," she said. "I had surgery (on my wrist) in November, so hopefully I'll get back in shape from that."

Public funds are tight in Indiana. And under Governor Frank O'Bannon's proposed budget, state colleges would take the biggest hit. Based on forecasts of a cooling economy and shrinking state reserves, it holds spending sharply in check. Legislators from both parties expressed disenchantment.

Residential Programs and Services announced Thursday it will have to cut seven residence hall custodians and restructure some supervisory positions in the dorms. The announcement concerned many custodians who work in residence halls. "My husband just had bone cancer, and he had to terminate his job," said Sharon Robertson, a custodian who has been working in McNutt Quad for a year and a half and for the University since 1996. "If I lose my job, I don't know what will happen."

Fife not welcome on Michigan turf

·

With four seconds remaining on the game clock against Michigan Tuesday night, Tom Coverdale passed the ball outside to Kirk Haston. It was the same play IU used in Sunday's game against Michigan State. Haston took a look at the basket and shot the ball -- but this time, it bounced around the rim a few times before falling to the floor. The shot was no good.
