In England, the custom of “tricking” began when, on the night before Halloween, some communities in the North observed Mischief Night. On this night, as during Halloween in contemporary times, children played tricks on adults, though not necessarily for being sent away without any candy. So much for the tricking. During the recent weeks, conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh publicly displayed interest in becoming the next owner of the St. Louis Rams. Limbaugh has been quoted saying, “It’s a dream to own part or all of a National Football League team.”

It’s official: Bob Knight will not attend the ceremony inducting him into the IU Athletics Hall of Fame. The University confirmed Knight’s planned absence in a press release today.

IU is in the middle of a building boom because of the competitive pricing of recent construction projects, despite the lingering effects of the economic recession. And many of the projects are on time and under budget.

Myles Brand tribute in Indy draws big names, high praise

About 1,000 friends, family and coworkers attended a tribute to Myles Brand on Wednesday at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Brand, an avid rider, was the president of IU from 1994 to 2002 and the National Collegiate Athletic Association from 2002 until he died Sept. 16 of pancreatic cancer.
