VIDA: Group brings life to language learning in show

Though theater performances are common on a college campus, Grupo de Teatro VIDA performances are different from the typical show — they’re not in English. Formed in 2006, the group annually performs plays in Spanish.

“This is a dream come true,” Thoreson said about having the opportunity to perform as Jo in the opera “Little Women” opening at 8 p.m. Friday at the Musical Arts Center. Thoreson is currently pursuing her performer diploma.

Gabriel Sunday, the lead actor, co-writer and co-producer of “My Suicide” was at the Root Cellar in Bloomington on Thursday as part of the Midwest showing of the film.  Sunday plays the character of Archie.

It is safe to say average students spend a chunk of their days checking Facebook or Twitter and watching YouTube. It is probably a lot less safe to say that average students spend a chunk of their days watching videos of jazz ensembles and live streams of operas.
