IU Club Golf sets sights on national championships

The team placed fifth in its first round of regional play last weekend in Auburn, Ind. The team plays in the National Collegiate Club Golf Association and will compete for a spot at nationals Nov. 5-6 in Pinehurst, N.C.

Hoosiers, Illini have followed different paths

IU is tied with Minnesota for the worst record this season in the Big Ten at 1-4. The Illini, though, are a perfect 5-0 and fresh off a 38-35 comeback victory against Northwestern in their conference opener after a 7-6 season and bowl win last year.

Eyes on quarterbacks when IU meets Illinois

Quarterback play has been a factor in the last two clashes between Indiana and Illinois, which might not bode well for the Hoosiers when they square off against Illinois at 2:30 Saturday at home. While IU’s Ben Chappell had 333 yards and three touchdowns in the 2009 contest, the quarterback situation for both schools has gone in opposite directions.

Much like the Midwest, however, Bologna is situated in a relatively flat part of Italy. But you can find the hills, mountains and valleys outside Bologna by venturing on a train. Last Saturday I journeyed to the historic and picturesque town of Urbino, Similar to the quaint town of Nashville, Ind., the journey to Urbino is filled with winding hills and sloping streets. The old-fashioned city makes the perfect getaway to escape the busy city life of Bologna.

Concert in store for Singing Hoosiers

IU’s concert show choir The Singing Hoosiers will perform Sunday at the Lincoln Amphitheatre in Lincoln City, Ind. This will be the group’s first traveling performance of the school year. The show starts at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and $8 per person for groups of 10 or more.

'Moo' wows kids

Man attempts to open cabin door 30 minutes before landing

According to an Indianapolis Airport Police Department report, passenger Abdulaziz Mubarak Alshammari of Saudi Arabia attempted to open the cabin door when the flight was about 30 minutes from landing in Indianapolis.
