BLOOMINGTON -- Carbon monoxide poisoning killed two hunters while they slept in a cabin in rural northern Monroe County, the coroner said.

IU students are helping Bloomington children discover college through a unique shadowing program. Campus TV station WTIU's "The Friday Zone," a weekly program dedicated to helping children do activities they wouldn't normally do, has been broadcasting in the community since October 1999.

The roads will be jammed next week when students return home for Thanksgiving break. But some IU students are trying to help. Hoosier Bus was created to lessen the chaotic traveling experience for IU students living in the Chicago area. Three years ago, University of Wisconsin-Madison junior Jeremy Schwach saw a need for a program that could help students travel home for the holidays.

Former IUPUI bookstore officials caught fixing prices

INDIANAPOLIS -- A federal grand jury has indicted two former bookstore managers on charges they overcharged college students for their textbooks by hundreds of thousands of dollars. Harold E. Vogel, former manager of the IU-Purdue University at Indianapolis Bookstores, and Dennis L. Saner, former manager of a chain bookstore near the campus, are charged with taking part in a price-fixing conspiracy.

The NCAA Selection Committee announced the pairings for the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament Monday afternoon. The IU men's soccer team waited to see who it would play, and if it would host a game, after it won the Big Ten Tournament 1-1 Sunday by advancing on penalty kicks against Penn State (9-10-1, 1-5-0 Big Ten).

Former researcher under scrutiny

A former Indiana State University professor and researcher at the Kinsey Institute may have his psychologist license revoked for allegedly sexually harassing his research subjects. This summer, four ISU students filed a complaint with the Indiana attorney general's office, alleging professor Jerome A. Cerny, 59, inappropriately touched their genitalia and made sexual comments during research.

NEW YORK -- Under heavy pressure from investors, Conrad Black will step down as chief executive of Hollinger International Inc., publisher of the Chicago Sun-Times. The company will be put up for sale after an internal investigation found that fees had been improperly paid to Black and other senior executives.

A-Rod beats Delgado, Posada for MVP

NEW YORK -- Alex Rodriguez became the second player from a last-place team to win a Most Valuable Player award, then confirmed that the Texas Rangers have approached him about a possible trade. "Management has approached me with a situation and some choices, and I'm just going to keep my doors open right now," Rodriguez said Monday from Mexico during a telephone conference call. Rodriguez received 242 points for the American League award in voting by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Toronto first baseman Carlos Delgado was second with 210 points, followed by New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada with 194.
