Will write for food

·

The holiday season is almost here. That time of year when it's most important to think about those who are truly needy, those who are less fortunate, those whom fate has dealt a sorrowful hand. And by "those," I mean "us," your IDS columnists.

The daunting gray walls and brownish desks of typical classrooms can get old fast. But next semester, some students will be in classes surrounded by emerald green trees and crystal-like snow-topped mountain crests. Fraternities recolonize

·

Greek houses seem to pop up as quickly as they disappear. Over the last several years, Delta Chi, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Theta Chi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon have had their chapters pulled from campus. However, many wonder what happens to these organizations after they are removed. Phi Kappa Tau recolonized last spring after being absent from campus for over four years and Beta Theta Pi and Sigma Lambda Beta already have colonized during this semester.

Fast food for finals

·

Thanksgiving break has come and gone, and that means finals week is fast approaching. Food and meal preparation is probably the last thing on a studying student's mind. Still, hunger will eventually strike. And instead of going out to eat, stopping at the drive-through or getting take out, take the time to make a nutritious meal in around 30 minutes.

College football fans, get ready to crown not just one, but possibly two national champions. And get ready for a new round of controversy. That's because the computer rankings had Oklahoma as the country's top team Sunday while the human poll voters picked Southern California.

Paging Dr. Heimlich

·

Hey, does anyone know when NIT tickets go on sale? When Missouri center Arthur Johnson fouled out with 4:29 left to play, I figured, "Alright! This one's over." I was right. But not in the way I imagined. Sean Kline's free throws were the last points that IU would score the rest of the game.

The previous record, set by the University of Maryland at 536 dreidels for 10 seconds in 2000, was unofficially broken, pending confirmation by the Guinness Book of World Records. As the crowd gathered before the event, volunteer "spinners" signed in and received a colored plastic dreidel.
