Hoosiers take week off to prepare for Badgers

Technically, the IU football team had last week off. However, that did not stop it from hitting the practice field, watching film and recruiting players. IU head coach Terry Hoeppner said the Hoosiers maintained their normal practice routine during the past week and are prepared to face the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday.

Hoosiers bring streak, confidence on road

A young but battle-tested IU volleyball team will go on its first Big Ten road trip of the season this weekend, seeking to continue its winning ways of late with a pair of matches against top conference foes Ohio State University and Penn State University.

IU coaches get down and dirty

Aggressiveness isn't just an attribute IU softball team members have -- it's also an attribute of the coaches. Just take first-year assistant coach Michelle Puls as an example. During a practice earlier this year, she said she was criticized by some of her players for not getting dirty and diving for a ball.

Still unblemished, IU heads into Big Ten play

Terry Hoeppner has said it again and again since arriving at IU, via billboards and radio announcements, word of mouth and press conferences: "Crowds help win games." Tomorrow, Hoeppner and the Hoosiers will battle the merits of their own motto as they open their Big Ten season with a visit to No. 17-ranked Wisconsin and its legion of loyal Badger fans that pack Camp Randall Stadium every Saturday.

Home not so humble as 3 ranked opponents come to Bloomington

The comforts of home might not be evident this weekend as the Hoosiers welcome the University of Notre Dame, Louisiana State University and Kansas State University to Bloomington. All three finished in the top 100 of last season's Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. And all three will highlight the field at this weekend's Hoosier Classic.

The IU women's soccer team is hoping two matches against Michigan teams will equal two wins this weekend. The Hoosiers are looking for their first two Big Ten wins this weekend when they play host to Michigan and Michigan State after losing at Penn State and Minnesota last weekend.

Another difficult field awaits IU in South Bend

The saying "Our sport is your sport's punishment" is one commonly found on the back of a cross country runner's shirt. While some athletes shy away from the activity, those on the IU women's cross country team wouldn't dream of doing anything else. Despite the negative stereotype placed on running, a nationally recognized program like IU's cannot be ignored.

Daniels defends road toll for I-69

'Darth Vader' to take over Buskirk-Chumley

With a vintage 1977 Darth Vader mug clutched firmly in hand, Gary Wood waited in line at an Indianapolis science fiction convention, hoping to get an autograph from David Prowse, famed for portraying the classic villain in the first "Star Wars" trilogy. President Kennedy once declared that triumph in "a long, twilight struggle," would come at a steep "price," impose a heavy "burden," and entail genuine "hardship." So why is it that the government has refused to ask Americans to sacrifice for victory in this war? The standard retort is that it doesn't need to, that the wealth of America's treasury allows it to deliver both guns and butter. But by now, it is plain that America's war footing at home or, to be coldly honest, the lack of one, is undercutting its war abroad.

The fashion industry worships her: She is credited for spearheading the highly controversial "waif" look in the 90s; she was once ranked the fifth highest paid model; she has starred in several notable documentaries; and she has been the face for high-end designers, such as Calvin Klein, Gucci, Versace and David Yurman.

Don't screw class

To all the members of the Facebook group "Screw class, let's get drunk," specifically those who believe in its (dare I say) "philosophy," I have a wonderful suggestion. You cannot go to class as often as you please, get drunk as often as you want and, most importantly, not waste your (or your parent's) money simultaneously: Just drop out.
