Working with children involved in dangerous home situations can be one of the most difficult jobs a person can have, and Kristin Bishay knows this firsthand.   “We deal with very serious stuff,” she said. “We deal with sexual abuse, physical abuse. You can’t let your emotions get the best of you because this stuff is really heart-wrenching.”

As rain poured over Dunn Meadow on Friday morning, Stephen Poremba, Interfraternity Council vice president of recruitment, feared a repeat of last year’s recruitment kick-off in which rain hindered attendance. But by Friday afternoon, the downpour stopped and the kick-off was back on.

New director of 21st century scholars casts 4 initiatives

With his new position as director of the IU Bloomington 21st Century Scholars Program, Enstrom has the opportunity to try to make sure that doesn’t happen anymore. As the director, Enstrom will follow students’ careers from the time they sign up for the program in either junior high or high school to college graduation.

The second annual Black Student Orientation drew more than 150 people to the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center on Friday night, where black students were introduced to the many resources available to them on campus and throughout Bloomington.
