Because we have a new president, I really hate to keep going back to the well on this one. But there’s still just way too much material to cover from the George W. Bush administration, and we need to pay attention to it. If we ignore the past, we can’t prevent it from happening again.

Man cannot live on bagel alone

Four streams of traffic crowd the 3-foot door, but I’m too hungry to care. With my head down, I pushed through. But before I can say “roast beef panini,” I’m sideswiped by a backpack. Recoiling, I bump a hungry girl in Uggs, which is never a good thing. I grab the usual: two bagels, a bag of pretzels, chips and a Coke. Can I just pay and leave already?

Indifferent to diversity

I attended a recent Mongolian New Year celebration and was intrigued to learn that Mongolia is a fledgling democracy in Central Asia.

IU wins 68-50, will play Purdue Friday

IU made it three victories on the season against Michigan this afternoon in a 68-50 win in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. For more information about the game, go to Above the Rim

Hill to attend White House summit

Rep. Baron Hill will attend a health care summit today at the White House. The summit, which was similar to the fiscal responsibility summit held last week, will give attendees an opportunity to discuss health care issues in the U.S.

Big Ten tourney awaits Hoosiers

Starting today, the Hoosiers will make their closing argument to the tournament selection committee. IU starts Big Ten Tournament play against Michigan this afternoon in Indianapolis.

IU graduate speaks on hip-hop and gender

Ebony Utley, a 2001 graduate, spoke about “Sex, Sexism, and the Search for Pleasure in Hip Hop” as the first speaker in the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center Alumni Lecture Series. The series began Wednesday and is in celebration of the center’s 40th anniversary.

When IU men’s golf coach Mike Mayer took a recruiting trip to the 2004 Junior Orange Bowl International, he had never heard of Jorge Campillo. During his recruitment of former IU golfer Santiago Quirarte, Mayer was struck by the temperament of the young man from Caceres, Spain.
