Russia, China join US in pressuring North Korea to negotiate nukes

MOSCOW – Russia and China urged North Korea on Wednesday to return to the negotiating table on the fate of its rogue nuclear programs – an unusual joint appeal from two Security Council members who have resisted more punitive U.S. measures against Pyongyang.

Crash bodies show bone fractures

SAO PAULO – Bodies recovered in the Air France Flight 447 disaster show multiple fractures in the legs, hips and arms, a Brazilian official said Wednesday. Experts said such injuries suggest the plane broke up in the air.

QUITO, Ecuador – The elections for the Andean Parliament, an advisory body for Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela, took place for the Ecuadorian representatives last Sunday in Quito, Ecuador.

Sending a child off to college can be fearful for parents. Jay and Julie Soures of Zionsville, Ind., could let themselves have three times that fear. With triplets Kody, Amy, and Kol all beginning their freshman year at IU in the fall, the Soures certainly will have a change in their home life.

When Alfred Kinsey established the Institute in 1947, the author of “Sexual Behavior in the Human Male” and “Sexual Behavior in the Human Female” was not anticipating shattering societal norms and standards regarding sexuality. Attempting only to uncover American perceptions of the concept of “sex” through his famous surveys and Kinsey Reports, the Institute’s Web site said Kinsey broke down religious and societal barriers to release his statistics on American sexuality.

Career Development Center: Use Facebook with caution

Word has been circulating around college campuses across the country that employers are checking prospective employees’ Facebook profiles before making hiring decisions. Pictures of students drinking or partying could potentially damage their chances of gaining employment. Job search companies have admitted to routinely doing “Facebook checks” and reporting inappropriate photos of prospective employees, according to the IU Career Development Center.

If you’re interested in studying abroad, your first stop should be Room 303 in Franklin Hall at 4 p.m. on a Wednesday. Once there, you’ll listen to the Office of Overseas Study’s weekly information session which overviews the overseas programs: how they work, how much they cost and how to apply.
