Indiana softball selected for NCAA Tournament, headed to the Knoxville Regional

Indiana softball claimed a spot in the 2026 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament’s field of 64 released Sunday –– its fourth consecutive season in the tournament.  

The Hoosiers will compete in the Knoxville Regional, hosted by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Northern Kentucky University and the University of Virginia will join Indiana and Tennessee in the group. The NCAA Tournament regional round follows a double-elimination system. Indiana will open tournament play 8 p.m. Friday against Virginia.  

Indiana finished the regular season with a 41-13 overall record and a 17-7 conference mark, securing the No. 4 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and a first-round bye. The Hoosiers notched a 9-2 victory over Washington in the quarterfinal before falling to Nebraska in the semifinal 

Indiana is one of seven Big Ten teams in this year’s tournament, joining Wisconsin, Michigan, Nebraska, UCLA, Oregon and Washington.  

Regional play begins Friday and runs through Sunday. Super regionals will take place May 21-24. The tournament will conclude with the Women’s College World Series, which begins May 28 in Oklahoma City.
