Target donates $55,000 to support IU programs

Target Corporation presented a gift of $55,000 Sept. 30 to Kelley School of Business Dean Dan Dalton to support the Center for Education and Research in Retailing, undergraduate scholarships, MBA Fellowships and the Minorities in Business Program. Ha-Keem Abdel-Khaliq, College Relations representative at Target presented the gift at a reception held in the Graduate and Executive Education Center.

BrainOrbit secures future

BrainOrbit, LLC was founded in spring 2002, by then 22-year-old MBA accounting student Justin Greis. The company was founded with the idea of helping clients with small-scale enterprise resource planning, creating CD-ROMs, Web sites, training and small business solutions.

Ballantine Hall chair to be decided

Members of the Ballantine Hall Committee are meeting today to elect a new chairman after former chairman Emanuel J. Mickel resigned from his position after a decade's worth of work. But the question of whom to appoint has been a cause for concern for some members.

Smoking policy hit and miss

One month after a University task force approved a new, on-campus smoking policy, students are still lighting up. But while the cigarette butts on the sidewalks haven't left, some say the number of smokers outside the entrances to campus buildings has decreased since the policy was issued.

93rd-ranked Recht starts season

After a successful summer that included finishing second in the ITA National Summer Championships, junior Ryan Recht is set to compete in the Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Tennis Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn., at the Champions Club. Recht is ranked 93rd in the country.

Freshman makes her mark

Limbaugh's comment lands him on the side

Hoosiers sweep weekend games

The Hoosiers had a successful weekend, Iowa 1-0 on the road Friday night and pummeling Marshall 4-0 at home Sunday. With the victories, IU improved its record to 5-6-0 (2-3-0 Big Ten) on the season.

Hoosiers return to familiar course

The IU women's golf team will not be traveling far for its next tournament of the fall season. The Hoosiers will hit the links Monday and Tuesday at the Shootout at the Legends in Franklin, Ind. The Legends of Indiana Golf Club will host the event. The tournament will consist of the first two rounds being played Monday with the final round Tuesday.

Team sets record, wins dogfight over weekend

The IU field hockey team set another school record Sunday with its sixth win of the season over Kent State, 1-0. The Hoosiers' (6-3) previous best record was last year when the team went 6-14. Senior Erica Nilsson believes the team has had a complete turnaround from when she started as a freshman.
