Eroding free speech

Everyone knows grandparents love nothing more than showing off pictures of their grandchildren. And while grandparents are particularly fanatic about kiddy photos, who doesn’t love to see a good naked-baby picture? In fact, I distinctly recall that throughout my childhood, Wal-Mart offered the adorable “baby-bath-bucket” photo shoot complete with rubber ducky so parents could commission professionals to take their baby’s naked pictures and have them printed in glossy mass quantities.

If you’re confused by the new RPS meal plan, you aren’t alone. The name change from “meal points” to “I-BUCKS” is only the beginning. In essence there are two options: Cream and Crimson. Cream is available only to students, Crimson to everyone else. The difference between these plans is that those on the Cream plan will receive 60 percent discounts on all purchases, while participants on the Crimson plan will receive discounts of only 25 percent. In purchasing a plan, operational costs are paid up front. The larger the plan purchased, the lower the percentage paid in operational costs.

Worth the steal

After bursting onto the mainstream music scene in 2003 with his major label debut album Waiting For My Rocket To Come and hit single “The Remedy (I Won’t Worry),” Jason Mraz blew up into the big time. He seemed to be thrown in with a lot of similar artists that fit the singer/songwriter niche, like John Mayer and Gavin DeGraw. However, because his second album, Mr. A-Z, wasn’t as successful, he’s fallen off the map a bit - until now.

May 8 was mug night at Jake’s Nightclub and, despite the fact that most students had left Bloomington for summer break the week before, the room was packed with people assembled to see six musicians perform the hits of Guns N’ Roses, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Poison and others. In a pause between songs, Hairbangers Ball frontman Tyler Holcomb (aka "Tyler Steven") addressed the crowd.

But if students want to take more than just a degree and basic survival skills away after their time at IU, they will need to push their limits.

Most people have strong views about the right to marry, regardless of the side of the issue on which they stand.
