Pedestrians to power London

As our world’s supply of natural resources continues to dwindle and the race to find alternative forms of energy ensues, one U.K.-based company seems to have found a solution that capitalizes on the one thing busy cities like London have plenty of – pedestrian traffic.

Law barring military medal lies is tested

Federal courts are wrestling with 2006’s Stolen Valor Act, which makes it a crime punishable by up to a year in jail to falsely claim to have received a medal from the U.S. military, even if the liar makes no effort to profit from the stolen glory.

Expect a tight contest between IU, Northwestern

Tom Crean’s Hoosiers are looking to bounce back from heartbreaking losses against two of the Big Ten’s best. The losses came by a combined total of five points and it’s certainly gotten some fans asking, "What if freshman guard Maurice Creek wasn’t injured?"

Efficiency key for IU against solid Northwestern team

This IU team sometimes has spells where its speed-up style becomes rushing and mistakes begin to pile up.   But the Hoosiers will have to stay focused on their trip to Northwestern. The Wildcat team IU will face at 2:30 Sunday in Evanston, Ill., shoots 36 percent from the 3-point line and only turns the ball over 11 times per game.

Colts-Saints game really a win-win

It’s the first time since 1993 that two No. 1 seeds are playing in the season’s final game, but the circumstances for both teams make that stat seem minor. In a sense, this year’s matchup cannot go wrong with either team dancing in the confetti at the end of Sunday’s game. In an age where image is a liability to the NFL, this is one championship weekend where the league cannot go wrong with its winner.

IU’s Counseling and Psychological Services wants you to care about your body, even if you need that third latte. To raise awareness during National Eating Disorder Awareness Month, the CAPS program is displaying a “Celebrate Your Body” art exhibit through Feb. 19 at the IMU Gallery in Starbucks.

Color commentator Todd Leary arrested before Purdue game

Former IU basketball player and IU sports radio announcer Todd Leary was arrested Thursday by IU police on a warrant issued from Allen County, Ind. Leary faces preliminary charges of improperly transferring about $1.3 million in real estate title insurance escrow funds to a bank account he controlled.

Bloomington man directs McDonald's Super Bowl ad

With the help of Bloomington producer and director Jo Throckmorton, McDonald’s has put together a remake of the classic commercial that once featured Michael Jordan and Larry Bird battling it out on the court for a McDonald’s lunch. Now, Howard and James will square off in a dunk contest that includes a visit from Bird, who was raised in French Lick, Ind.
