In their fourth decade of recording music, the Pixies certainly have enough skill and notoriety to stand on. Having gone through personnel changes, hiatuses and even a breakup, the band went through the ringer but has still managed to produce eight studio albums and numerous smash hits like “Where Is My Mind?” and “Hey.”

For decades, Björk has been known for her idiosyncratic approach to music. Her songs often bombard the listener with sounds from every direction, challenging them to keep up while indifferent to their ability to do so. Her newest album, “Fossora,” continues this philosophy. More than thirty years into her career, it would be strange if it didn’t.

Comedian Bill Burr will perform at 8 p.m. Sept. 30 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall as part of the second leg of his “(Slight Return)” tour. The tour started in early April and has taken Burr all over North America.

Highly Suspect is known for its gritty, in-your-face hard rock sound. It’s just as one might expect from a band whose lead singer goes by the moniker “Terrible Johnny.” Since the 2015 release of its debut album, “Mister Asylum,” its sound has remained relatively unchanged, experiencing only minor evolutions throughout the years.

The fourth season of “What We Do in the Shadows” aired its final episode Sept. 6. The Hulu comedy follows four vampire roommates and their familiar-turned-bodyguard on Staten Island as they attempt to navigate the human world. The show is based on the 2014 film of the same name.

Active in the music scene since 2006, Ezra Furman has a wealth of recorded music and has established themself solidly in the punk rock genre, particularly in the queer community. Their breakout work, “Day of the Dog,” released in 2013, and they have released five critically acclaimed albums since then, including the soundtrack for Netflix’s 2019 show, “Sex Education.”

As a booming tradition of the IU arts community for the past six years, the First Thursdays festivals bring together organizations and individuals from all over Bloomington for a grand celebration of its vibrant and thriving creative culture.
