Geoff Bradley, who served as a deputy prosecutor in Monroe County for 14 years, has been elected to the Division 1 court. Prior to those 14 years, Bradley served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Ohio.

In September 2018, the New York Times published an opinion piece that harshly criticized the president’s policies. However, in a rare step, the newspaper did not reveal the identity of the person who wrote the piece, only saying it was written by a senior official in the Trump administration. For months, theories circulated that the piece was written by now-former Defense Secretary Gen. James Mattis, now-former Chief of Staff John Kelly and even Vice President Mike Pence.

When the newly elected IUSG Congress met virtually for the first time in the 2020-21 school year, the first item of note on the agenda was electing a new speaker. IUSG’s legislative body, to which 57 members were elected earlier this year, selected sophomore Garrett Wright for the new speaker role.

Documents obtained by the Indiana Daily Student show on Sept. 10, Kyle Reynolds and Charlie Willis, two of ReviveIU’s leaders, submitted a complaint against ReImagineIU, their coalition’s main competitor. The 76-page complaint alleged multiple violations of the election code and asked IUSG’s election commission to disqualify nearly all of ReImagineIU’s candidates.

After three-fourths of greek houses were directed to quarantine by the Monroe County Health Department during the last week, IU recommended Thursday all 40 houses close. The president of Phi Kappa Tau, a house that has not been quarantined, said IU’s policy is unfair to their fraternity.

Students reported issues accessing the Canvas website, IUs learning management system that students use to access homework assignments and classwork, Monday morning. IU spokesperson Chuck Carney said the issue was caused by a bug within IU’s login process, but University Information Technology Services is still investigating.

IU Student Body Congress has approved a budget proposal that will provide $30,000 to create a COVID-19 assistance fund. That fund is a part of a $164,709 total appropriation for IUSG’s 2021 fiscal year, according to a document released to the IDS last week.
