The newly formed six-member Jordan Committee appointed by IU President Michael McRobbie will review the names of Jordan Hall, Jordan River, Jordan Avenue, the Jordan Parking Garage and any scholarships, fellowships or other awards that bear former IU President David Starr Jordan’s name, according to a July 2 release.

On June 12, 76 faculty members and researchers at the IU biology department sent a letter to President Michael McRobbie and other IU administrators calling for Jordan Hall to be renamed. Thursday’s Supreme Court decision to block President Donald Trump’s attempt to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program will protect about 700,000 DACA recipients in the country from being deported.
