As the checkered flag flew to end the 38th annual women’s Little 500, Kappa Alpha Theta crossed the finish line reaching for first place but finishing in third. It was not the three the team was looking for, however, as it entered the race with hopes of winning its third consecutive title, which would’ve crowned it the first three-time champion of the women’s race.

For the first time in program history, the opening round of the NFL Draft featured multiple Hoosiers. Quarterback Fernando Mendoza was selected No. 1 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders and wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. went No. 30 to the New York Jets. On Friday night, the Cream and Crimson were once again a fixture of rounds two and three.

As public address announcer Jeremy Gray exclaimed, “for the first time ever,” over the speakers of Bill Armstrong Stadium on Friday, the Alpha Chi Omega riders knew they had finally done it. After a second-place finish at last year’s Little 500, the team was finally champions of the 38th edition of the event.

Bloomington man Shandor Jackson, 37, was arrested April 22 after a house fire the day prior left his mother in critical condition. He was charged with attempted murder, arson, aggravated assault and auto theft.

Fernando Mendoza sat centered on a couch, his parents positioned to one side, and his brother, Alberto, on the other, while additional family members filled the surrounding space. The former Hoosier received the phone call he had anticipated for months. Smiles broke across the room as Mendoza embraced his family members, before putting on a silver and black embroidered hat.

Indiana football fans filed into Memorial Stadium on Thursday night for the 2026 spring game. The Crimson (offense) faced the Cream (defense), as the Hoosier faithful got their first look at the 2026 roster. Over two quarters of play and 11 total drives, the Crimson defeated the Cream 26-13.

For months, the Las Vegas Raiders’ No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft was clear: former Indiana football quarterback Fernando Mendoza. Raiders owner Mark Davis and minority owner Tom Brady were both in attendance for the national championship on Jan. 19, when Mendoza led the Hoosiers to their first title in program history.
