In October 2020, the IU Board of Trustees voted to remove David Starr Jordan’s name off campus which entailed renaming Jordan Hall, Jordan Avenue, the Jordan River and the Jordan Avenue Parking Garage. Fast forward to the start of the 2022-2023 school year, all of which have all been renamed.

The Poplars Building, which has served as a dorm and hotel among other spaces on Seventh Street is being demolished due to costly maintenance issues after almost 60 years. The demolition started in August 2022.

Released nationwide on August 5, “Bodies Bodies Bodies” is the latest A24 film to hit theaters. The black comedy was directed by Helina Reijn and stars Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova, Myha’la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, Rachel Sennott, Lee Pace and Pete Davidson.

The Bloomington City Council unanimously voted to amend the vehicle and traffic municipal code Wednesday night. This ordinance is a collection of city traffic and parking control changes based on a collection of public requests and feedback through various commission offices.

A Black-owned beach in California that Black people could visit during segregation was seized by white local officials through eminent domain in the 1920s. This action enforced segregation and turned the once lively area into vacancy. It was only a few weeks ago that the property was returned to the descendants of the owners.

Jordan Peele’s “Nope” was one of my most anticipated films of the year. Peele’s previous films, “Get Out” and “Us,” are two of my favorite horror films of all time. They’re expertly crafted works that perfectly balance genuine genre thrills with relevant social commentary.

On June 8, Monroe County commissioners set out to evacuate and clear the property behind the At Home store in Bloomington using county funds. This was the result of complaints from store employees and other residents who saw members of the unhoused community living there. The Bloomington police and city employees cleared a similar camp in Seminary Park a year ago.

A gunman killed three people yesterday at Greenwood Park Mall in Greenwood, Indiana. Identified as 20-year-old Johnathon Douglas Sapirman from Greenwood, the gunman was shot and killed by an armed bystander.
