The up and coming talent Nick Zanca has created, under his pseudonym "Mister Lies," the ambiguous sound of "avant-garde pop." It's every bit as weird as it sounds, with synthetic riffs spliced with key dabbling and faraway moans; I wouldn't be too misled into believing that there's a bit of Steve Reich in the music of this Chicago-based producer. Best to make the call for yourself and come see Mister Lies, tomorrow night at the Bishop.
