St. Patty's is still a couple of days away, but members of locals The Sump Pumps and Panic Strikes a Chord will ring in the festivities early with a set of Pogues covers at the Bishop on Thursday night. Nothing quite stirs up Irish cheer like the tunes of Shane MacGowan and Company - Rum, Sodomy & the Lash is one of this editor's favorite albums of all time - and there's hardly a better excuse to drink too much whiskey and stout than the opportunity to hear those songs live by people who still have the ability to sing them (sorry Shane). And hey, it's cheaper than seeing Flogging Molly. See you there, Bloomington.
