March 29 was a super night for indie-rock fanatics at The Bishop. Three intriguing and diverse acts gave the crowd a night to walk home pleased by.

Doldrums is a one man electronic hype band hailing from Canada. He was rocking a gangsta lean tee shirt. This electronic DJ/ performer owns a bright voice, which he pairs with a lot of bass and horns on loop. The tunes were discordant but sutured together by the boom of electronic noises. I somehow got the feeling that he may prance around in his sister's undies while singing over dubstep.

Firstly, Brad Sanders would love the chick's voice in the second band, Young Magic. (Ed. - would I now?) They are a band from the U.K. that uses deep drums and scratchy guitar. The sound really matters because it has this spiritual feeling like everyone is playing during that part in Gladiator when everyone cries at the end. The synth player quietly raps during various parts of the songs which adds another layer to the already pretty music.

Bear in Heaven had an intense light display set up pulsating throughout the show. I've never seen a light show quite like it at the Bishop before. Additionally, this synth-pop band had the big noise to keep up with the shimmering lights. The trio sonically brought the sound, and the fans were, like the bear, in heaven. They played some crowd favorites like "Lovesick Teenagers" from their older records, but mainly focused on promoting their upcoming release I Love You, It's Cool.
