It's rare that a legend as bona fide as Charles Bradley comes to Bloomington, but the Screaming Eagle of Soul himself will be gracing the Bluebird stage Sunday night in support of his solo debut, No Time for Dreaming. Even though he got something of a late start, with his music career not really taking off until after his 50th birthday, Bradley has established himself as a champion of soul and funk, drawing comparisons to the likes of Otis Redding for his vibrant embrace of the '60s and '70s tradition. This has Best Show of the Year So Far written all over it, so don't miss it. Charles Bradley's story is nothing less than the American dream, the triumph of talent and perseverance over struggle, and getting the chance to shake his hand would be a privilege.
