Hailing from Jackson, Mississppi, Colour Revolt pushed past internal band conflict to produce their sophomore album, The Cradle. This album gives indie music a fresh feel with personal lyrics and a loud, distorted sound, while simultaneously sticking to the roots of the genre. Their song "8 Years" is one of my favorites, as it details the band's journey in a personal way. It also offers a classic Indie vibe reminiscent of early 90's grunge with a twist of 70's punk.
Colour Revolt's lates album is going to be a great fit with indie loyalists, as well as some of the 90's grunge crowd and maybe even some 70's and 80's punk fans. Their personal lyrics add a seriousness that their instrumentation accentuates with raw force. They are sure to be a must-see at Rhino's this Sunday.
