Authentic, genuine and catchy are words to describe the music of Secretly Canadian band, David Vandervelde. The lead singer's voice is extremely free flowing and melodic, and almost lends a retro-rock vibe to each song. Ballads like "Feet of a Liar" show the depth of talent this lead singer has, through his raspy vocals and the expression and understanding of each word he sings.
The real gems this band offers the crowd, however, are their rock-pop songs like "Checkin' Out My Baby". This has to be my favorite song; the singer taps into his inner Freddie Mercury, and offers a fun, fresh, and irresistibly catchy tune that you can't help but sing along with even after the first time you've heard it. With such a contagious beat, tunes like this will be sure to have the crowd singing along on Friday.
