Heartless Bastards (from Dayton, Ohio) opened up for The Decemberists last weekend at the Murat Egyptian Room in Indianapolis. After being really impressed with Heartless Bastards I couldn't wait to see them live. They reminded me of The Pixies, especially their track "The Mountain". I feel as if female singers tend to be lumped into a similar genre of sound, but Erika Wennerstrom's voice breaks and goes well beyond any barriers.
