Song: Coastline Journey

Artist: Mishka

"Right now, a ripple would be fine." Simplistic lyrics and a simplistic sound backed by Mishka's tearing voice loom an amazing vibe of positive energy. This song will take you out of Indiana to Bermuda where this dude was born. He has also been opening for Xavier Rudd's tour.

His new album, Above the Bones released Feb. 10, it's worth the buy!

Song: The River

Artist: Anathallo

An upbeat, somewhat fast pace song with strong piano. The violin and voice reminds me of Andrew Bird, the drumming and other bits reminds me of maybe Rogue Wave? A great song that even has a sonic build up towards the end.

Song: Come Let Go

Artist: Xavier Rudd

In light of the 60 degree weather get on board with some Rudd and Spring will get here all the sooner. "Come Let Go" is a rock/reggae tune with some electric harmonica, echoing seagulls (I think) and features Rudd's signature voice. Essentially, it might be impossible to be mad while listening. My advice is to walk somewhere while listening.

Song: Dirt Room

Artist: Blue October

Wow, Blue October, what an interesting band. Yeah, they are still around and still rockin' the black eyeliner and nail polish. "Dirt Room" sorta sucks, but it's not all bad, in fact I can still hear enough of the old Blue October in the song that will make me want to check out their upcoming album Approaching Normal. Props on the sick-nasty violin solo.

Song: Desolation Row

Artist: My Chemical Romance

As much as I can say how pissed off I am that they ruined a great Bob Dylan song, I won't. Because it actually is a great punk-rock song. My Chemical Romance dropped their usual hard-rock gothish sound and went with something that sounds like Rancid and I think it did the remake of "Desolation Row" justice. This song is the first single released from The Watchmen soundtrack which I think will come out before the movie itself- might be worth checking out.
