Starting this week, the Live Buzz will feature a weekly Top 5 downloads list called Sidetracked. We'll clue you in to the newest songs to check out by some of your favorite bands and where you can get your hands on them!
1) Bon Iver- "The Park" (Live Feist cover)
-Bon Iver's Justin Vernon talks about his love for Feist and covers a tune off of her album The Reminder on Australia's Triple J Radio. Sparse yet stunning, this live cut is a beautiful interpretation of the the Canadian songstress' tune.
-For a full (yet slightly skewed) explanation of The BPA, otherwise known as the Brighton Port Authority, read here. An artists' collective of sorts, the BPA's latest album I Think We're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat features a plethora of hot tracks, the best being a collaboration by the illustrious David Byrne (of Talking Heads fame, duh) and the UK's own Dizzee Rascal. Check it.
3) Grizzly Bear- "Two Weeks" (Live on Letterman)
-Grizzly Bear has been in the recording studio working on their follow-up to Yellow House, and while there, they've spent some time mingling with indie darling of '08, Beach House's Victoria Legrand. This is a live version of the song that will feature Legrand on the band's new album.
4) Ra Ra Riot- "Ghost Under Rocks" (Passion Pit Remix)
-Remixes are always hot, are they not? Ra Ra Riot, who will be stopping in Bloomington WITH Passion Pit on March 24th, gets dancified in this "Ghost Under Rocks" remix.
5) N.A.S.A.- "Whatchadoin" (Feat. M.I.A., Santogold, Spank Rock and Nick Zinner)
-You may not believe it, but this collaboration is REAL, and if you pick up N.A.S.A's newest release, The Spirit of Apollo, you'll see that there's an entire CD full of these hipster wet dreams.
