IU opens first come, first serve student section

In response to years of questioning about an official student section in Assembly Hall, IU Athletics is finally implementing a first come, first serve seating area - with some minor details. Student tickets will follow the same rotation system as is currently used, but when students receive tickets in sections K, L or M and within the first 25 rows, the earliest arriving ticket-holders will get the seat of their choice. "Ever since I've been AD, everywhere I go on campus, invariably a student asks me when are we going to get a student section for basketball," IU Athletics Director Fred Glass said.

Grumblings about IU-Michigan

If this season goes anything like last season did, IU fans should be worried. The Hoosiers lost to Michigan 36-33 a year ago and then went on to lose a string of close games. Saturday's result: A 42-35 loss. The game lived up to all the hype and then some.

Etherington, Hollowell ready for IU visit Saturday

I just got off the phone with 2011 IU commit Austin Etherington and 2012 recruit Jeremy Hollowell. Both players confirmed that they will be in Bloomington tomorrow for an open-gym session and the Hoosiers' football game against Michigan. Etherington said Cody Zeller, Kevin 'Yogi' Ferrell, Hanner Perea and Gary Harris will also be in town on Saturday. "I'm excited to be down there and be with the guys," Etherington said.

Tickets selling fast for IU football vs. Michigan

Student tickets within the currently allotted section for Saturday's IU football game with Michigan are selling fast, IU vice president and director of athletics Fred Glass said Tuesday. "We're selling tickets quicker than Nick's sells strombolis on a Saturday night," Glass said. Roughly 1,000 of the $5 student tickets remain of the 11,338 originally available for the game. Pairing two undefeated teams, IU will take on the No.

The Pennsylvania Effect

When Indiana traveled to Pennsylvania this past weekend for contests against conference rival Penn State and the Bison of Bucknell University, it was more than just another road trip. Seven members of the IU Field Hockey team graduated high school in Pennsylvania.
