University releases NCAA hearing case summary

Here is a copy of the case summary. UPDATE (4:50): Well, I take that back a bit. Looking at the documents has shown some interesting transcripts from the NCAA investigators with certain parents, coaches, and players.

Emmanuel Negedu Update

Friend of the IDS and Bloomington Herald Times reporter Chris Korman posted an update late Wednesday about Negedu's recruiting trip to IU. Negedu (who Korman jokingly says is of "soaring dunks and limitless hustle") didn't arrive until late Tuesday night, so his trip has extended into late Wednesday. Will the best remaining prospect in the class of 2008 become a Hoosier?

Blake Monar convo pre-draft

While I was supposed to be working at my internship I decided the blog needed some updates. As some of you may or may not know, tomorrow is the MLB draft. One (possible) Hoosier affected by the draft is the big left-handed pitcher from Rockport, Ind., Blake Monar.

Eric Gordon pre-draft interview

Eric Gordon talked to ESPN's Chad Ford at the Orlando pre-draft camp. Some interesting things: Gordon did refer to his wrist being broken (while we all began to believe the wrist was broken, if I recall, IU never came out and said it was a broken wrist) and the Illinois situation.

Big Ten Network celebrates Indiana Day on June 11

Here is the press release from the good folks at the Big Ten Network: CHICAGO - On Wednesday, June 11, the Big Ten Network shouts "Let's go, Hoosiers!" with 24 consecutive hours of Indiana programming. The day will include some of Indiana's best performances in 2007-08, including the thrilling Old Oaken Bucket Game against Purdue, the hard-fought men's basketball victory at Illinois, Tyler Cox's walk-off grand slam in the Big Ten Tournament, Jorge Campillo's Big Ten men's golf title and a pair of men's soccer victories, including one against top-ranked UCLA. At 9 PM ET, the Big Ten Network will present a special edition of Big Ten Tonight, the Indiana Year in Review.

NCAA to push for just 4 major violations

Chris Korman of the Bloomington Herald Times is reporting on the paper's blog today that the NCAA will push for 4 major violations against IU instead of the 5 listed in the letter of allegations sent to the University earlier this spring.

Rivers officially joins Hoosiers

The worst kept secret surrounding the IU men's basketball team is finally in the open: Jeremiah Rivers has officially transfered from Georgetown (insert "JR is the player to be named later in the Patrick Ewing Jr.

NCAA Investigation Costly to IU

The Indy Star is reporting that IU has spent $203, 000 in legal fees due to the NCAA Investigation surrounding former coach Kelvin Sampson. Thoughts?

Josh Phegley earns tryout for USA National Team

Everyone's favorite catcher, Josh Phegley has earned a tryout with 2008 USA National Team. This is a great honor for Phegley, but shouldn't really come as a surprise after the amazing season he had. From what I understand by looking at the USA Baseball Web site, the team the Terre Haute, Ind.

Jeremiah Rivers

I spoke with the newest Hoosier early this afternoon, Georgetown transfer Jeremiah Rivers. The point guard chose IU over Georgia Tech, where he plans to complete his final two years of eligibility and finish out his college basketball career.
