NoMaas catches up with Blake Monar

Hey y'all, Blake Monar talked with Lane Meyer of nomaas.org. It is a great interview conducted by Lane and shows a lot of Blake's personality. As far as the possibility passing up IU and going to the Yankees, Blake said this: Lane Meyer: Being drafted by the Yankees, does the team itself intrigue you or is it just the idea of a pro career? Blake Monar: The pro career is the big thing, but being drafted by the Yankees makes it that much better.

McGee headed to Auburn

In what may be the final installment of "Where is that former Hoosier playing?" (although the rumors of Jamarcus Ellis transferring to Northern Kentucky University have not been confirmed), Rivals.com is reporting that former IU wing Brandon McGee is transferring to Auburn. McGee is the second member of the 07-08 Hoosier team headed to play in the state of Alabama, after Armon Bassett announced his intentions to play for Mike Davis at UAB (University of Armon Bassett?). In 2004, IU picked up transfers from Auburn in Marco Killingsworth and Lewis Monroe , who completed their college basketball careers with the Hoosiers during the 2005-06 campaign.

Thomas to play NAIA ball

I incorrectly wrote last week that former Hoosier big man (literally) DeAndre Thomas was headed to D-I Robert Morris, when in fact he will be playing at NAIA school Robert Morris College in Chicago, as reported on the Colonials Corner. Bob McClellan from Rivals.com released an article yesterday about the transfer and was told by RMC coach Al Bruehl that Thomas is down to 285-lbs.

UPDATED: Blake Monar still unsure

There really is not any new news pertaining to the recruit, but the Indianapolis Star published a quick blurb on Monar today (7/11). Monar, a pitcher who has committed to Indiana University, was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 26th round. "I'm still up in the air," he said.

What has you excited?

Remember the days when no news was good news for IU Football? When the program would only make headlines with its most recent throttling from a Big Ten opponent? Those days appear to be in Bill Lynch's rearview mirror.

'Minotaur' goes yard

Former Hoosier Andrew Means recorded his first home run of his professional career on Friday night. For the Billings (Mont.) Mustangs, a Cincinnati Reds Rookie League affiliate, Means went 2-for-5 with a single and the solo shot. In the first games of his post-collegiate tenure, Means has struck out nine times in 48 at-bats, a slightly higher clip than he had last season at IU. Despite the K's, however, his average over his last 10 games stands just under .300.
