Hey y'all,

Blake Monar talked with Lane Meyer of nomaas.org. It is a great interview conducted by Lane and shows a lot of Blake's personality.

As far as the possibility passing up IU and going to the Yankees, Blake said this:

Lane Meyer: Being drafted by the Yankees, does the team itself intrigue you or is it just the idea of a pro career?

Blake Monar: The pro career is the big thing, but being drafted by the Yankees makes it that much better. It definitely intrigues me more than any other organization. With their tradition, history, and the developmental system it really a good option to have.

LM: Those that have followed your case closely know that you have a couple of times rejected offers from the Yankees. From everything I've hear you're looking for upper-3rd or lower-2nd round money. Would this be correct? Do you have "a number?"

BM: Somewhere in there, yeah. I don't really have a number at this point. When the whole thing started I thought I was undervaluing myself a bit, but now, well, let's just say I'm waiting to see what they come back to me with.

LM: How serious are you about signing a professional contract if a decent offer is made? I know you've got a legacy at Indiana, so you have no problem going there.

BM: If I start pitching like I'm capable of, and they make an offer I deem fair, I'm not at all fearful or scared to pull the trigger and forgo college. At the same time I'm not scared of walking away from the Yankees and going to Indiana. It's a win-win situation for me.
