IU-Purdue makes Newsweek's "12 Top College Rivalries"

As if Austin Starr's game-winning field goal or even Kelvin Sampson's last game as IU head coach didn't call enough attention to the IU-Purdue rivalry, the Cream and Crimson and Black and Gold have gained more national recognition by way of Newsweek magazine.

Jerimy Finch cleared to practice: Updated

7:55 p.m. -- According to the Indy Star's Terry Hutchens, Indiana and athletic director Rick Greenspan have appealed the NCAA ruling to make transfer Jeremy Finch sit this season. "IU's appeal is hardship based and cites undisclosed family matters that were involved in Finch's decision to leave the University of Florida and enroll at IU," Hutchens said on his blog. Former wide reciever tweaks hammy

Nothing earth shattering, sounds like James Hardy will be fine, but I wanted to post this because it is nice to see the former IU wideout is getting some love from his new coach, Dick Jauron. This is a press release from the Bills' Web site. Hardy sits Rookie wide receiver James Hardy sat out Thursday night's practice after feeling some tightness in the back of his leg. "We were warming up and I sort of tweaked my left hamstring a little bit," said Hardy.

Coordinator talks with ESPN, James Hardy cuddles up with new QB

I've gathered up some interesting links on IU football which are definitely worth checking out. ESPN's Adam Rittenberg wrote up a two-part chat with offensive coordinator Matt Canada for his blog. In part one, Rittenberg and Canada discuss the new no-huddle offense which IU will employ this season came to fruition, what it means for Kellen Lewis, the quarterback conundrum and the loss of James Hardy. In the second part, Canada (the coordinator, not country -- and I promise this is the last time I make that joke) fields a few wrap-up questions, but discusses Marcus Thigpen and Ben Chappell. And I noticed this story as I was thumbing through the AP wire.

Search committee for new AD announced

IU President Michael McRobbie has created a 13-member search team to name Indiana's new athletic director, the University announced today. Bill Stephen, IU vice president for engagement, will head the committee. "I am extremely pleased that Bill Stephan has agreed to lead this important search," McRobbie said in a press release Friday.
