In our last post we talked Cape Cod, today we shift to the Great Lakes League which featured four Hoosiers over the summer. Matt Carr was ridiculously good this summer for the Anderson (Ind.) Servants. The righty had the lowest ERA of any IU pitcher last season and earned the same honor with the Servants.
Matt Carlino, a 6-foot-2 sophomore combo guard from Arizona, has verbally committed to play at IU. Carlino, already a four-star recruit according to Scout.com, also has made the ESPN 100 Watch List for 2011.
1. Derrick Favors, C - IU not in his recently named top ten schools, but Hoosiers could get a look from the Atlanta Celtics (AAU) star as a result of the hiring of former Celtics' coach Roshown McLeod. 15.
Though I'm a Chicago style hot dog kind of guy, let's go with just ketchup today. Let us take a look at the efforts of the Hoosier baseballers who spent their summers aiming to perfect their craft. As many of you know, three Hoosiers took to the prestigious Cape Cod League this summer.
The Hoosiers' defense was bolstered Thursday morning when the University announced Florida transfer, Jerimy Finch, may compete this season. Per NCAA rules, Finch and other transfers must sit one year after transferring.
As expected, IU recruit Maurice Creek has jumped up in Rivals.com's lastest class of 2009 rankings...a lot.
Here is the press release from IU athletics Indiana University has officially signed Tom Crean to lead the Hoosiers men's basketball program to a 10-year contract that will pay him $600,000 per year in base salary and an additional $15.72 million in outside marketing and promotional income during the life of the deal.
...for a) crossing up Blake Monar and Drew Leininger and b) not adding a rotation to my prediction. I left my brain somewhere outside Wheeling, W.
Scout.com has released a list of the ten biggest names in the class of 2011. Austin Rivers, ranked No.
Bob McClellan and Andrew Skwara from Rivals.com pose an interesting question in this week's Monday Tip: will IU finish last in the Big Ten?
The topic of IU's student section (or lack thereof) has dominated the discussion on this blog for most of the summer.
Hey folks, A reader commented on my last post asking for a projected starting lineup for next year.
And there's no new news on Blake Monar. I can't confirm tonight whether Monar signed with the Yankees -- though my last report (see below) indicated that he committed himself to coming to IU. Unless Monar had some 11th-hour change of heart and decided to put his name on the line -- and again I stress no one has reported that as yet -- fans will get to see him looking more like this than like this. Again, I stress that nothing is official, though I promise you Ryan and/or I will do our best to reach Monar tomorrow to get final confirmation that he is indeed Bloomington-bound.
A baseball source tells the IDS that word is Blake Monar is not expected to sign with the New York Yankees but will instead opt to enroll at IU and play for Tracy Smith's Hoosiers.
Hitting coach Sheldon Watkins has left the IU baseball program, a baseball source confirmed Friday night.
This from Baseball America. Alex Meyer's name has been thrown around a little bit on this blog, thought y'all might find this of interest. The Red Sox have offered Greensburg (Ind.) High righthander Alex Meyer a $2 million bonus, but that offer has been pulled from the table and no deal is expected to be reached before tonight's 11:59 EDT deadline.
Hey folks, At present, no news is good news for the IU baseball team, and that's what I've got -- no news.
The IU men's basketball team rounded out its coaching staff Thursday when Tom Crean announced the hiring of former NBA player Roshown McLeod. McLeod played two seasons at St.
That's all the time left for Blake Monar and the Yankees to come to agreement before the deadline for signing draft picks.
