Basketball Guide on its way

The Indiana Daily Student Basketball Guide is set to hit the presses tonight and will be available across the IU campus and Bloomington tomorrow. Among the stories here are some featuring the women's basketball team: -Senior forward Whitney Thomas: IU's All-American candidate and her thoughts on her final year at IU -Coach Jack: How she got involved in coaching and the passion she brings to the game -Senior guard Lydia Serfling: Came to IU first to run track, then walked onto the Basketball team last year -Sophomore guard Jori Davis and freshman guard Ashlee Mells played AAU ball on a team that made the final two.

Dick Vitale was on Sportscenter this morning to talk about the college basketball season. While I didn't transcribe everything said, (As I was kind of half asleep) The question about how he thought Tom Crean and IU will fare came up. Vitale first noted that he thought they would struggle, but eventually Crean will turn it around.

All-American Candidate Whitney Thomas

IU senior and Bloomington native forward Whitney Thomas is an All-American candidate for this season. IU Athletics recently released a composition of her biography, season schedule, stats, highlight tape, and photos which can be viewed here. Thomas is averaging 13.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games so far for the Hoosiers.

NCAA announces Tournament seeds

WNIT Scenarios for the Hoosiers

With a loss to No. 22 Xavier in the second round of the pre-season WNIT the Hoosiers won't be returning to play in Assembly Hall any time soon. Here are the 2 scenarios for the team's next game, which depends on the match up between Middle Tennessee State and Oklahoma on Wednesday November 19th If Middle Tennessee State wins: the Hoosiers will travel to Norman, Oklahoma for a game with the Sooners on Friday Nov.

Jeremy Gainer re-opens his recruitment

Linebacker standout Jeremy Gainer, who had given his verbal committment to IU, is now back on the market, according to Rivals.com. Gainer, a native of Detroit, Mich., was the only four-star rated player that had committed to the Hoosiers.

Another scoreless second half. This is nuts!

I wish I was in the Hoosiers locker room at halftime. I really do. It's amazing these guys can't score points after the break. After Saturday's loss to Penn State, the Hoosiers have been outscored 144-20 in the second half against conference opponents.

Hoosiers to play Musketeers Sunday

The IU women's basketball team will play No. 22 Xavier on Sunday at 2p.m. in Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers advanced to the second round of the Preseason WNIT after beating Ball State Friday night 84-68. The Hoosiers have only played the Musketeers once and were victorious on March 13, 1998 by a score of 80-74. IU coach Felisha Legette-Jack will go for win #93 as her team hopes to advance in the tournament.
