Men's rugby finishes third in Big Ten Plus One tournament

The IU men's club rugby team finished third in this weekend's tournament. The team defeated rivals Illinois and Ohio State in the first two rounds, but lost to Notre Dame in the quarterfinal. Ohio State conceded the third place game due to injuries and preparation for league play which begins this week.

Lemonhead Regatta

Rowing competed in a scrimmage on Saturday. They return to the water for the Princeton Chase on October 25th.

Big Ten power rankings, week 4

The first week of the Big Ten season saw teams fall from the top and to the bottom of the rankings. With a loss to Iowa, Penn State drops to fourth, while Michigan State's slide drops them to 10th in the rankings.

Hoosiers still in the running for Selby

No. 4 recruit in the nation for the class of 2010 Josh Selby has trimmed his school list to six schools, and IU is one of them, according to a report by Alex Bozich of Inside the Hall. Also on his short list are Baylor, Kansas, Kentucky, Miami and Syracuse. We'll be trying to get in touch with the Selby's before our chat this week on Wednesday.

Field Hockey lose to Ohio State 3-2

No. 17 IU field hockey ends its second game in Ohio with a 3-2 loss to Ohio State. With the two losses this weekend to Miami (Ohio) and Ohio State, the Hoosiers record is 5-4. Ohio State got off to a 2-0 lead in the first half by goals from sophomore forward Maria Briones and junior forward Jena Cacciatore. Hoosiers made a late comeback with goals in the 60th and 65th minute mark from redshirt-freshman forward Morgan Fleetwood and junior defender Mutsa Mutembwa. With just seven seconds left, the Buckeye's scored of a goal from freshman forward Berta Queralt. Hoosiers play against Iowa and California in next weeks games in Iowa City, IA.

IU volleyball vs. Michigan State pre-match notes

The IU volleyball team plays host to No. 16 Michigan State at 7 p.m. today in their second match of the Big Ten season. A few pre-match notes as the Hoosiers (11-4, 0-1) clash with the Spartans (12-1, 0-1): Michigan State leads the all-time series between the two schools, 25-40.

Hoosiers lose to Miami (Ohio) 5-1

No. 17 IU field hockey lost to Miami 5-1 on friday night. Hoosiers were losing 3-0 in the first half. IU picked up its first and only goal in the game from a score by redshirt sophomore back Brenna Moeljadi at the 42:34 mark. 19 shots were taken on goal by the Hoosiers, but only one could go in because of the Red Hawks aggresive style of play. This Sunday, IU opens its Big Ten play with Ohio State in Columbus at 1 p.m.

IU falls to Michigan, 3-0

The IU volleyball team began its Big Ten season with a loss to No. 8 Michigan in straight sets. The Wolverines (13-1, 1-0) beat the Hoosiers (11-4, 0-1) by scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-23. Michigan's hitting and serving proved too much for IU, attacking at a .295 clip and registering five service aces. Michigan sophomore middle blocker Courtney Fletcher led the way for the Wolverines with 11 kills at a .625 clip, two service aces, 10 digs and two block assists.

IU defeats Wisconsin 1-0

The No. 13 Hoosiers opened the Big Ten season vs. former assistant coach Todd Yeagley with a 1-0 win. IU was able to capitalize on one of many attempts with a Will Bruin goal-- his fifth of the year. IU improves its record to 4-2-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. Kentucky comes to Bloomington Tuesday to face the Hoosiers in IU's first home game since Sept.

Season Tickets And Student Rewards

Per the athletic department website season tickets for women's basketball are now available. They cost: $135 for all courtside seats $45 for adults in all non-courtside seats $30 for youth tickets for the whole season. Student admission is free with a valid IU Student ID. Also students who attend the games can earn Crimson Club points.

IU volleyball vs. Michigan pre-match notes

The IU volleyball team opens Big Ten play with a home contest at 7 p.m. today against No. 8 Michigan. A few pre-match notes as the Hoosiers (11-3) prepare to do battle with the Wolverines (12-1): IU leads the all-time series against Michigan 35-28-1 but has lost the last five contests to the Wolverines. Michigan swept both meetings last season, beating the Hoosiers by scores of 25-23, 25-22 and 38-36 in the October 2008 match in Bloomington and 26-24, 25-18 and 25-21 the following month in Ann Arbor. Michigan senior outside hitter Juliana Paz currently ties for highest service ace percentage in the Big Ten at .69 (minimum .10) and sophomore right-side hitter Alex Hunt ranks third at .67.
