IU volleyball vs. Minnesota pre-match notes

The IU volleyball team continues the Big Ten season with a home match at 1 p.m. today against No. 8 Minnesota. A few pre-match notes as the Hoosiers (13-4, 2-1) prepare to clash with the Golden Gophers (12-3, 3-0). The two schools split the series in 2008, each winning at home.

Hoosiers fall 33-14 to Ohio State

When IU coach Bill Lynch said that his team has never faced a player like Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor, he wasn't kidding. Pryor finished with 222 yards and four touchdowns in the air and on the ground in leading his team to a 33-14 rout over the Hoosiers on Saturday night.

IU falls to Ohio State 33-14

No. 9 Ohio State jumped on IU early in the game and never looked back, winning 33-14. Buckeye QB Terrell Pryor threw for 159 yards and 3 touchdowns, while gaining 63 yards on the ground. The Buckeyes rushed for 219 total yards - 202 more yards than IU's running game produced.

IU v. OSU: Game day predictions

Well, Mark Cuban is picking the Hoosiers to win. But not many others. A quick scan through all the major sports news Web sites (ESPN, CBS, SI, FoxSports, etc.) has no one picking the Hoosiers to even make it a close game like last week in Ann Arbor. In the link from the Columbus Dispatch, no one but Cuban is picking the Hoosiers to score more than 13 points.

No. 9 Hoosiers lose to No. 11 Gauchos

Indiana ended a three-game win streak Friday evening when they lost to University of California-Santa Barabara 3-0 in California. Surrounded by a crowd of 10,114, the Hoosiers were unable to net any of their 11 shots. Freshman Matt Wiet said the team lost momentum after a controversial call on UC-Santa Barbara's second goal. Both Wiet and IU coach Mike Freitag said the team's first 15 minutes on the pitch held some quality play, but as the clock ticked the Hoosier began to lag. The cream and crimson face the Butler Bulldogs on Wednesday back on Jerry Yeagley field.

Hoosiers Upset No. 20 Spartans in 90th Minute

In a game that the Hoosiers dominated for the entire game, out-shooting Michigan State 25-5, it was sophomore forward Carly Samp's goal with 21 seconds left in the game that was the winner. The play started with a turnover at midfield.

Crean, Lynch to speak during Greek Week

IU men's basketball coach Tom Crean and football coach Bill Lynch will each take turns in front of the microphone during Greek Week. The week of festivities designed for the enjoyment of fraternities and sororities have added the two coaches to its bill.

IU to visit with No. 8 2010 recruit Jelan Kendrick tonight

Jelan Kendrick, the No. 8 player in the nation according to Rivals.com, is scheduled for an in-home visit with members of the IU basketball staff tonight. Kendrick, a 6-foot-6-inch small forward out of Marietta, Ga., is a 2010 five-star recruit who has been relatively tight-lipped about his recruitment, so this news comes as a surprise, although it was known that IU was in the picture for his collegiate services. We'll try to get in touch with Kendrick some point this week.

IU vs. Michigan game: Second most watched ever on ESPN 2

The Hoosiers' 36-33 loss to Michigan last week in Ann Arbor was watched in nearly 2.1 million households, the second most ever on ESPN 2. The most ever watched game on the network was a 2006 matchup between Ohio State and Illinois which drew slightly more than 2.1 million households. Kirlew named semifinalist for Campbell Trophy

Defensive end Jammie Kirlew is having a great year on the field this season, but his off-the-field accomplishments continue to rack up as well. Kirlew will already be recognized at this year's Sugar Bowl for his character, and now he is closer to another similar award. This from the IU athletics department: Indiana senior defensive end Jammie Kirlew has been named one of 54 Football Bowl Subdivision semifinalists for the 2009 William V.
