Fisher, Doss visit members of Alterra Sterling Nursing Home

IU senior cornerback Ray Fisher and sophomore wide receiver Tandon Doss visited the Alterra Sterling Nursing Home in Bloomington earlier this afternoon to speak with members and sign autographs. Fisher personally contacted members of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity for the opportunity.

IU volleyball receives votes in coaches' poll

The IU volleyball team has caught the eyes of coaches nationwide. The Hoosiers (13-5, 2-2) received nine votes from participants in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll for this week. IU upset No.

Haverly earns second weekly Big Ten freshman award

IU freshman outside hitter Jordan Haverly was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for her efforts against Purdue and Minnesota. This is the second time in the 2009 season that Haverly has earned the award, the first on Sept.

Hoosier uproar following Ohio State game

Following the Ohio State loss, I wrote up a column on how the team's output would only push the 11,000 strong that came out to support the team away. I did not realize the irony that would come with it. Since being published, Hoosier supporters have voiced their opinion on the matter, and most say they were actually impressed despite the losing effort.

IU falls to No. 8 Minnesota in straight sets

Following its thrilling five-set victory at Purdue, the IU volleyball team got another taste of how difficult the Big Ten can be Sunday. The Hoosiers (13-5, 2-2) fell to the Golden Gophers (13-3, 4-0) in straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 26-24. "I don't think we played bad volleyball today," IU coach Sherry Dunbar said.

Hoosiers beat Cal 1-0

IU field hockey comes out with another victory over Cal by a score of 1-0. The Hoosiers win both games in Iowa City, IA. They beat Iowa 2-1 on Friday and Cal 1-0 on Saturday. They come back to Bloomington for a five game home streak til Oct 31. Saturday's game was more of a defensive battle for both teams. In the first half, neither team scored a goal, but both Cal and Indiana took three shots on goal. With 18 minutes into the second half, Fleetwood scored the only goal of the game off a pass from freshman forward Brooke Borneman. Fleetwood's two goals this weekend lead the team with six goals on the season. Mann had her first shutout of the season with three important saves in the game. Indiana moves to 7-4 with the two wins this weekend. The Hoosiers face Michigan State on friday at 3 p.m in Bloomington.
