IU falls to Iowa, 73-57

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- It might be impossible to make Iowa look better than it did against IU on Sunday night. A team scrapping for wins every week, the Hoosiers made the Hawkeyes look like the best team in the Big Ten -- and them some. The 73-57 loss came for a bunch who seemed overwhelmed with a Hawkeye group that has never been confused with anything resembling the Big Ten's finest. This game couldn't be chalked up to youth.

If you weren't watching the USA/Canada game...

On the day of the closing ceremonies for the Winter Olympics, it's fitting to say that if IU were competing in the Olympics, they would have the same medal count as a poor island nation. But unlike the famous Jamaican bobsled team, it doesn't look like IU will manage a storybook ending to what is becoming another near-unwatchable season. Sunday's 73-57 loss represents just another blown chance for the Hoosiers to manage at least one more Big Ten win. And with Purdue on the horizon (Wednesday) and Northwestern at home, their chance for ending this season with 10-plus wins doesn't look too realistic. Their best chance was Iowa.

IU, Iowa vie for 9th place position in Big Ten

On Feb. 4, 2008, IU ended its 11-game losing streak (eight straight to start Big Ten play) with a win at home versus Iowa. Tomorrow, the Hoosiers will seek to snap a nine-game skid in their battle at Iowa, a game between two teams tied at 3-12 in the Big Ten. IU's Jan.

Hoosier offensive tackle Rodger Saffold getting interest from NFL teams

Here's a link I found today on the blogroll. Looks like former Hoosier Rodger Saffold, who is entering the NFL draft this year, has been receiving interest from several teams across the NFL. Saffold, who allowed one sack in the 2009 season, has seen interest from the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons and San Diego Chargers, along with more interviews to come, he told Michael C.

Worst loss in Assembly Hall history

Thursday's 78-46 loss to Wisconsin marked the worst loss in Assembly Hall, a stretch of 39 years. In their second-to-last home game of the season, the Hoosiers shot 35.3 percent, hit 0-of-5 threes and had 10-of-20 free throws. None of those stats mattered as much as two fouls, from the most unsuspecting member: IU coach Tom Crean. Crean was ejected in the second half after arguing with the refs.

Hoosiers lose 5th straight, fall to Iowa 76-64

IU women's basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack placed a premium on this final stretch of games before the Big Ten Tournament. Five straight losses weren't exactly what she had in mind. The Hoosiers (13-15, 6-11) couldn't complete a rally from a deficit as large as 16 points, and the Hawkeyes (16-12, 9-8) completed a season sweep of IU with a 76-64 win Thursday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The loss was the Hoosiers' fifth straight. "We've got to come ready to play," Legette-Jack said.

Lack of depth could hurt IU against Wisconsin

Throughout the season, IU has only been able to rely on two different players to carry the scoring load for the Hoosiers. One of the biggest factors throughout IU's losses - and even some of its wins - has been its lack of depth.
